Answers first, and a person when you need one.
Most questions about Airlight are answered below. If yours is not, send us a message and we will reply by email.
Getting started
What is Airlight?
One place to record your podcast or video show and run your webinars, under your own name, colours and web address. Every recording comes back with a transcript, show notes, clips and edits ready to use.
How do I start?
Start a free trial from the website with your name, your email and the name of your business or show. Your workspace is ready straight away. We email you a link to confirm your address. Until you confirm it, you can try everything except publishing a webinar and adding team members.
Which browser and computer should we use?
Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop computer works best, for you and for your guests. Background blur needs Chrome or Edge. Phones and tablets are not supported for studio guests yet.
Do my guests or attendees need an account or an app?
No. Guests open the studio link you send, type their name and join. Webinar attendees register on your page and join from their browser. There is nothing to install.
Can I bring my team?
Yes. Invite people in Settings, Team, as an owner, admin, host or producer, each with their own sign-in and only the access they need. The trial includes 3 seats, Studio 5 and Studio and webinars 10.
How do I get help?
Send us a message from the form on the support page, or from Help at the bottom of the menu in your dashboard. We reply by email. When you write from your dashboard, our replies also appear under Help, with the status of each request.
Recording in the studio
How do I invite a guest?
Open your studio and copy the guest link. Guests arrive in a green room, where they pick their camera and microphone, watch their level move and accept the recording notice before they join. There are separate links for producers, who run the room without being on camera, and viewers, who watch without being recorded. If a link is shared too widely, replace it with a new one at any time.
What happens if someone's internet drops?
The recording carries on. Each person is recorded on their own computer, saved in two-second pieces and sent up while you talk. If a connection drops, the browser crashes or a tab closes, the pieces wait on that computer and go up when it is back. In our tests, a guest offline for 12 seconds lost nothing.
What quality do you record in?
Each camera is recorded where the person sits, up to 4K, with their voice as lossless 48 kHz audio. The live call can wobble without touching the recording.
What do I get after each take?
A lossless WAV of each voice and an MP4 of each camera, lined up to the millisecond. The mix of everyone, levelled to podcast loudness (-16 LUFS), as WAV and MP3. A finished video with everyone on screen and their names, or the screen share beside the speaker. A transcript with every speaker named, and caption files.
Can I edit in Airlight, or use my own editor?
Both. In Airlight you edit by deleting words from the transcript, remove filler words and long pauses in one go, and clean up the sound with studio sound. Your original recording is always kept. Or download each person's audio and video and drop them into the editor you already use.
What about show notes, clips and the podcast feed?
Show notes are drafted from your transcript: title ideas, a summary, chapters with their times, quotes and posts for social. Change anything before you publish. Vertical clips come back at 1080 by 1920 with captions. Recordings become episodes on a podcast feed you can submit to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and the other apps.
How many hours can I record?
Recording hours are counted per calendar month: 5 on the trial, 20 on Studio and 40 on Studio and webinars. If you use them all, new takes pause until the 1st of the next month, and your recordings stay safe.
Webinars
Which plan do I need for webinars?
Studio and webinars, or the free trial. Webinars are not part of the Studio plan, and you can switch plans at any time in Settings, Plan & billing.
How many people can register?
Each webinar takes up to 500 registrations on Studio and webinars, with up to 8 presenters on stage. During the trial it is 100 registrations and 4 presenters. Moderators do not count as presenters.
What can my audience do in the room?
Chat, ask questions and vote them up, answer polls, react, download handouts and click your offers. They can raise a hand and you can bring them up on stage. People who arrive early wait in a countdown room in your brand.
Can a webinar run without me?
Yes. Upload a recording and it plays at the time you set, in step for everyone, with the same room, chat and offers around it.
What do I see afterwards?
Who registered, who came and for how long, poll answers, questions and offer clicks, and a replay page for as many days as you choose. Export any of it as a spreadsheet, or send registrations and attendance to Brevo, HubSpot or a webhook.
Can I stream to YouTube or LinkedIn?
Not yet.
Your brand and web address
Does my audience see Airlight?
No. Your studio, green room, registration pages and webinar room carry your name, colours and logo. A small "Powered by Airlight" credit can sit at the foot of your public pages, and you can switch it off in Settings, Brand.
How do I set my colours and logo?
In Settings, Brand. Set them once and everything follows, and you can change them at any time, including on links you have already shared.
Can I use my own web address?
Yes, on both paid plans (not during the trial). Add an address like studio.yourbusiness.com in Settings, Domain, point it at us with the DNS record we show you, and we switch it on once the record is right.
I run shows for several clients. How does that work?
Each client gets their own workspace, with their own brand, team and recordings, and nothing shared between them. You move between them from one sign-in. Talk to us from the contact page and we will set them up with you.
Can Airlight show up in our own dashboard?
Yes. Create a workspace key in Settings, Integrations to show your webinars and recordings in your own pages, and to open the studio for a team member already signed in. Revoke a key at any time.
Plans and billing
How does the free trial work?
You get 14 days with everything switched on, and we never ask for a card to start.
How much does it cost?
Studio is €39 a month and Studio and webinars is €79 a month, billed monthly in euros.
How do I subscribe?
In Settings, Plan & billing, with our own secure payment form. If you subscribe during the trial, you keep the trial days you have left, and the first payment is taken when the trial ends.
What happens if the trial ends and I have not subscribed?
Nothing is charged, because we never asked for a card. Everything you made stays safe and viewable, and new recordings and webinars pause until you choose a plan.
Can I change my plan?
Yes, at any time. The difference for the rest of the month goes on your next invoice.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. After that, new recordings and webinars pause, and nothing is deleted.
Where are my invoices and billing details?
In Settings, Plan & billing. Update your card and your billing details (business name, address and VAT number), and download your invoices.
What if a payment fails?
We email you. Update your card in Settings, Plan & billing and we retry the payment straight away.
Privacy and your data
Who owns the recordings?
You do. Download any file whenever you like, or export the whole workspace.
Can I export everything?
Yes. Owners and admins can download one file from Settings, Privacy with your studios, recordings, webinars, registrants, team and settings, plus a list of every stored file. Passwords, stream keys and private links are left out.
How long do you keep recordings?
Until you delete them. Deleting a take removes every file made from it. Owners and admins can also set an automatic clean-up after 3, 6 or 12 months in Settings, Privacy. Takes used in a published podcast episode are kept.
Do guests agree to being recorded?
Yes. Studio guests and webinar presenters accept a recording notice before they join, and we keep a record of each acceptance.
How is my audience's marketing consent handled?
You can add a marketing tick box with your own wording to a registration page. The answer is recorded with each registration, and only people who agreed are sent to Brevo or HubSpot.
What if someone asks for their data, or to be removed?
Owners and admins can download one registrant's data, or erase them, from the webinar's registrant list. Erased people are taken off every reminder and follow-up.
